How can I support The Cause?

Would you like to …….

  • Meet new people
  • Raise awareness on the issue of human trafficking and make a valuable contribution to ending it?
  • Be part of a friendly and professional team?
  • Be trained in a new role and develop your skills?

If your answer is yes and you can spare just a few hours a week or a set amount of weeks/months during the year to assist MeCAHT in their anti-trafficking work in a practical way, we would love to hear from you.

Throughout the year MeCAHT works with enthusiastic volunteers from various countries. Working with the MeCAHT team, these volunteers assist with research and public speaking, conferences and programme events/workshops/awareness programmes, outreaches, vital inputs, administration & fundraising. Through all of these activities, these volunteers impart their knowledge and gain valuable new skills through helping MeCAHT in the fight against Human Trafficking and Modern Day Slavery.

If you are interested in participating as a volunteer, please fill in the MeCAHT Volunteer Application Form and like our Facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/mecaht/ ).

All applicants need to submit a copy of their identification document, two written referral letters (can be from current employer/academic institution/church/previous volunteer referee), a letter of motivation (stating why you would like to be a volunteer), and a police clearance (upon request).

All students need to submit a copy of their student card. ID or a reference letter from their educational institution. All applicants need to be 16 years or older to qualify for our volunteer program.

Due to the nature of the work that the applicant will be doing as a volunteer, we ask ALL volunteers for references.  Please attach the names, addresses, contact numbers and email addresses to your reference letters.  Please note that your references need to be two of the following:  present employer, past employer, a lecturer, teacher, pastor or friend.  NOT a family member.

Once your application has been screened, the applicant will be notified as to a date and time at which either an interview or skype session will be held.

Kindly email your completed application form and supporting documentation to volunteer@mecaht.org for more information regarding becoming a volunteer.

Hi, my name is Sarah and I am 21 years old. I study social work in Germany and my vision is to empower and help women in need.

In September 2017 I had the chance to work with MeCAHT. From the very first day I felt welcomed and comfortable. The team gave me the possibility to provide insight into Human Trafficking. There are many different fields of work like awareness in schools and cooperation with other organisations, churches and natives.

Most inspiring for me were the outreaches, where we went to the streets to connect with victims of Human Trafficking and the pimps. It broke my heart to realise that there are real humans who are imprisoned in Human Trafficking and who have a life full of brokenness and injustice.

This changed my perspective to the world, because I was able to see Gods power to transform lives. I also met some girls who were already in a safehouse. In this safehouse they got help to change their lives. The joy and strength of the girls touched my heart.

I am so grateful for those intensive experiences and inspiring people I met. This time taught me a lot about the country, the culture, the problem of Human Trafficking and ways to fight the unrighteousness.

The MeCAHT – Team is deeply passionate and full of love. I pray for their hearts to stay strong while working for social justice. God may bless you guys!

Hello all,
During the past 6 months I worked with MeCAHT and had great experiences. The team was so welcoming and inclusive that I managed to see a lot of how MeCAHT operates. As a volunteer I had a lot of exposure to all kinds of different areas and issues of Human Trafficking as well as in the whole NPO world – prevention, intervention and post-care of Human Trafficking.

As the time went on, I figured out my passion and focused on two main areas, Prayer/Intercession and Outreach. I developed my skills and passions whilst with MeCAHT. I was praying a lot and also leading a lot of prayer and intercession meetings especially with young people. It is great to see how people get a passion for this topic and step into this gap and start praying for spiritual breakthrough as well as freedom for people. I could also spend a lot of time with the Lord and ask Him to allow me to see the world through His eyes.

Sometimes I focused so much on the darkness and the brokenness of people and forgot about the freedom Jesus gives us. He had to remind me of that. God really shared His heart with me and taught me a lot during that time.

As much as I believe in praying, I believe we are called to go out and make a difference. With MeCAHT I could go out on the streets and minister to our "Treasures". It is great to go out and reach out to people who are living in brokenness. Often the "Treasures" on the streets know about God, but they do not have a personal enough relationship with Him. When we go out as a team we try to bring the love of God on this earth and to make Him personal to them. I remember one night when we went to our outreach location,

God pointed out so many women on the street, that when we started talking to them, we sensed that they were ready to receive. God was so present in all the conversations we had and He touched these women's hearts. The Bible verse "The workers are few, but the harvest is plentiful" (Matthew 9:38) became so real to me. I don't know if God was ministering to me more than He was ministering to the ladies that night, or at least as much as to the ladies.

The time with MeCAHT was flying and I still can't believe that it is already over (for now). I personally grew a lot, learnt a lot about Human Trafficking, NGOs/NPOs and South Africa(ns), got to know a lot of incredible people and grew in my faith. I would not have wanted to miss this time and I am so grateful God sent me there.

Bless you,
